This sterling silver presentation trowel retains the original fine and impressive carved hexagonal agate handle, fitted to a plain hallmarked hexagonal terminal and chased decorated stylised leaf decorated bolster. This impressive, engraved silver trowel is fitted to the original hinged leatherette presentation box with satin and velvet lined interior, securing with a push fit catch. The interior of the box bears the retailer"s mark of "By Appointment, Mappinn & Webb Ltd, Regent Street, London W. This antique trowel is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The interior of the box features some staining, in keeping with age, but can be considered to be in excellent presentation condition. The engraved and tooled decoration is very crisp. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of the blade have wear due to their location and in keeping with age, but remain legible.
The lion passant mark to the terminal of the handle mount is clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique silverware.
