Cambridge Gloria Pink Elegant Depression 12.5 Platter 2-Handled Art Deco MINT
The Cambridge Glass Company of Cambridge, Ohio was one of the leading producers of Elegant Depression Glass in the USA. In 1930, the Cambridge Glass Company introduced Etching #1746, which collectors now call "Gloria".
Glass companies usually numbered their patterns - years later the collectors gave names to the patterns. The "Gloria" pattern features large and beautifully-etched poppies featured next to baby's breath and similar-looking flora. This is not an easy-to-find pattern these days and I just unpacked this particular platter from a box that was packed away some 25-35 years ago.The piece has everything going for it: it is pretty pink, it is HUGE, and it is in PRISTINE CONDITION! What more could you ask for?? This platter measures 12 1/2 inches across (not from handle to handle but from inside handle to inside handle). From handle to handle this platter measures 15 3/4 inches across.
From side to side the platter measures 10 3/4 inches across. It is a LONG and ELEGANT platter!
It could be used as an underplate for the largest bowl in this pattern or as a separate platter. The condition, as stated, is PRISTINE with no chips, no cracks, no discoloration, no loss of etching... There are a few tiny bubbles in the glass from manufacture.
