Art Deco Mandalian long pink on cream bird handle mesh purse

  
Made this vintage flapper era Art Deco enameled mesh purse. The silver colored mesh is enameled with an Art Deco design of pink, white and magenta color. The frame is very ornate with birds flanking the flower shaped snap clasp. A curvy floral design goes around the whole frame and the birds even have definition on both sides. The inside is marked, Mandalian Mfg. The silver-tone chain stretches 13 inches around. The purse's bottom has triangular shaped mesh fringe with pink enameled metal beads that dangle freely.

The body of the purse measures approx. 3 3/4 x 8 inches. This piece has survived many years and was most likely stored in a dry place.

It was well loved and has some vintage wear. The enamel on the mesh is in very good shape, with minimal wear. The metal beads, however, have a lot of the pink enamel worn off. There is one detached ring at the bottom, creating a small hole.

If you are a handy with jewelry-making or metal work you may be able to fix this very easily. All of the links appear to be attached to the frame. There is some vintage patina/wear and silver polish remnants to the silver tone frame and may be other minor vintage wear, such as fine scratches.

The purse can be a little tought to push open at times. Overall, this is a beautiful vintage piece. These vintage mesh purses are like a piece of art and look beautiful hanging on a wall or in a frame. I've always thought of them as a piece of jewelry for your hand.
