Art Deco Flying Dragon 1906 Artist Signed Hand Painted Handled Large Vase
The background is a black matte, with incredible slightly iridescent winged dragons flying across the vase, with a gorgeous purple and blue mottled oval medallion between each dragon. Please be sure to enlarge the photos for a close-up look. I would imagine from the date on the vase, 1906, this is a limoges or similar blank that was proudly painted by Della Hetsler (who signed the vase). The aqua and pinkish purple medallions are outlined in a gilt art nouveau style, and each dragon has orange feathers on the wings and a lavender head with the feathers in the long tail outlinbed in gilt. The handles are gilt as is the top rim. The handles are highlighted with black enamel designs as well. Superb vase in great vintage condition, with wonderful vivid colors, minimal enamel wear (if any), and an outstanding art nouveau design. The vase measures 14 1/2" in height and about 7" acros from handle to handle. We don't mark up our items by a great amount, so reasonable offers only please.
