Stunning American Art Deco Machine age chrome magazine rack with red Bakelite handle. Holder expands to hold magazines or books. It features two chrome scroll forms, round chrome balls for feet with octagonal Bakelite handle. Designed in 1934 by Fred D.

Farr for Revere Copper and Brass Inc. Of Rome, NY and appeared in their 1935 catalogs.

This spring design concept was first used by Farr in his hugely successful range of bookends for Revere. His magazine version was originally issued with a walnut handle and base but then replaced by a more stylized all-chrome version with a ring handle.

Finally these ultra-stylish versions with either black or red octagonal Bakelite handles were released and became true Art Deco icons. (This design is often mistakenly attributed to Norman Bel Geddes). It is marked (Steel stamped) Revere Rome N. On the underside of the base.

17 ½" Tall x 12" WIDE x 8 DEEP. Great antique condition, no cracks chips on the Bakelite No gauges or dents on the metal with appropriate wear for its age such as fine lines and scuffs. My idea of great/good may be different than yours, so EXAMINE PHOTOS CAREFULLY since they are binding and a supplement to the word description in case I should miss something. If I fail to mention something, it does not qualify as "item not as described" if it shows in my pictures.
