A Shelley Art Deco Chevron Handle 11776/41 Eve shape tea cup & saucer. C. 1930

  

An extremely rare Shelley Art Deco "Chevron Handle" 11776/41 Eve shape tea cup & saucer. Pattern number 11776 Chevron Handle (usually found on Vogue shape tea wares): Burgundy outside cup and on saucer.

White inside of cup and centre of saucer. Black and white chevron pattern on handle. Entered in pattern book during or after 1930.

The shape of this cup & saucer is the Eve shape which was only produced between 1935 & 1942. The back stamp is the 1925-40 green cartouche mark.

Dimensions: diameter of footed tea cup base 49mm (1.9 inches) / diameter across top of cup 84mm (3.25 inches) / height of cup 73mm (2.9 inches) / diameter of saucer 139mm (5.5 inches). Condition: Both pieces are in very good clean condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, scratching or signs of wear. All paintwork is in good order with no fading to the pattern. Both pieces have a very good "ping" to them when lightly tapped. Please excuse any white marks as the photographs were taken outside and the set is very reflective.
