1922 Cloth Coin Purse Chain Handle Ocean Sea Life Frame Knob Handle Provenance. Vintage 1920s cloth & metal frame purse / handbag.

The note tucked inside states, This was given to me on my thirteenth (1922) birthday from papa. Features a cloth bag on a metal frame, with a chain. The cloth is mostly teal in color, with splashes of magenta, rusty-coral and khaki. Possibly silk, due to the way it's fraying.

Lined with a different, solid-color material inside. The frame is very unique, with embossed depictions of cattails, birds, turtles, fish & snakes.

I have not been able to locate a maker's mark. The frame is approximately 3.25 across, hinge to hinge. When opened, the frame measures approximately 4.25 across, knob to knob.

The length of the fabric is approximately 4-1/8 on each side. The material is discolored, both inside & out. The outside fabric has several areas of fraying / shredding.
